The research conducted in America, Poland and Russia have shown something they already knew our ancestors through the propolis that can treat acne, urticaria, herpes, abscesses and other skin ailments.

It also has been discovered that propolis combat some types of bacteria, fungi and yeasts. Therefore it is an ally against conditions such as otitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis, urinary infections and periodontitis and has an anti-free radical activity, inhibits oxidative processes, which takes possession as an important anti-aging.

The composition of propolis

The key, perhaps, of all the healing properties of propolis is, according to specialists, which contains flavonoids, compounds found in all plants, there are over 300 varieties, and those known to be some important plant regenerative cell damage due to its antioxidant properties.

Although its composition will vary somewhat according to where the hive is generally one can point out that propolis is composed of:

Resins and balsams (50 - 55%)
Wax (25 - 35%)
Volatile oils (10%)
Pollen (5%)
Organic substances and minerals (5%)
Within this latter group, found organic acids, phenols, aromatic compounds (coumarins, flavones among others) and metals such as aluminum, silver and iron. The composition highlights the proto-vitamin vitamin A and several of the group B.
