- Categorized in: Natural Remedies

When abnormal color variations appear in some areas of the teeth (yellow, brown, gray, blue or even bright white in contrast to the rest of the teeth), dots or stripes, they say that the teeth are stained
These spots arise because the enamel, which is the hard outer covering of teeth is decaying by different factors causing the dentin was exposed, the less dense interior of teeth, which absorbs the color of the edible .
There are several factors that cause tooth staining as:
- Cigarette smoke
- Beverages such as cola, tea, coffee, acidic as lemon juice or red wine
- Strokes in childhood
- Aging
- Taking antibiotic drugs during the prenatal dental development or when the teeth are still forming in childhood
- Serious childhood diseases like measles or whooping cough, especially during tooth formation.
- Other diseases such as rickets
Folk Remedies
- Remedy for stained teeth # 1: Eat daily a piece of papaya which helps whiten teeth
- Stained teeth Remedy # 2: Rub the teeth with a halved strawberry. This not only whitens teeth but also strengthens bleeding gums, which helps and prevents gingivitis or gum inflammation.
- Stained teeth Remedy # 3: Eating an apple every day, because this fruit helps strengthen gums and whitens teeth.
Recommendations
- Keep teeth clean. Good oral hygiene helps prevent the teeth are stained from food or liquids. That means brushing your teeth at least twice a day, especially after meals.
- Rinse mouth. After each feeding, flush the mouth. If you can not go to the toilet, we recommend taking a sip of water and swallow while it is still on the table.
- Do not scrub hard when brushing teeth. If you brush too hard can erode tooth enamel and digging into the roots of teeth.
- Flossing. Stains teeth look worse if there is plaque (a thin, almost invisible layer of bacteria and food debris). Therefore, we recommend daily use of dental floss.
- Stop smoking. Smoking is one of the factors that cause tooth staining. Hence the desirability of eliminating this habit if you want to have spotless teeth.
- Reduce consumption of coffee. Because coffee can stain teeth, you are advised to take only a cup of beer during the day. Also, try brushing your teeth after you take it.
- Use a straw. To minimize contact with teeth, you can use a straw to drink liquids that tend to stain teeth such as tea, cola soft drinks and acidic juices.
- Use with caution in toothpaste stain remover. These toothpastes are too abrasive and therefore the use of this product should be restricted to two or three times a week.
- Do not be creative. Some people rub lines or spatulas on the teeth with the aim of clearing, which may cause the enamel of the teeth scratch and become more prone to staining.
- Avoid using tooth whitening products-counter without prescription. It is not advisable to use these, because while you remove the stain, you can also spend the enamel making it more exposed dentine and, as a result, the tooth is re-stain. Also, published scientific studies have shown that ingredients containing these carbamide peroxide bleaching mainly (in the mouth becomes hydrogen peroxide) can slow the healing of oral tissues that are damaged and possibly even cause cancer.
- Visit the dentist regularly for any abnormalities in your teeth. We recommend going to a specialist with some frequency, and more if you notice any abnormalities in the teeth. This will be avoiding any dental problem that may involve the destruction of the living part of the tooth and, as a result, the possible appearance of stains.
