Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus leaves are used adult lanceolate, which are collected from April through September. Its main components are eucalyptol, cineole, pinene, tannin, fatty acids, aldehydes and hydrocarbons.

Although this plant is native to Australia and Tasmania, now cultivated in the tropics and Southern Europe.

Healing Properties

The leaves of eucalyptus essential oil is extracted colorless but has a taste and highly aromatic smell which they are developed and preparations used for inhalations anticatarrhal friction.

The eucalyptus leaves are antiseptic, astringent and soothing, particularly effective in cases of intermittent fevers and respiratory problems like asthma, bronchitis, tonsillitis and colds.


Folk Remedies eucalyptus

  • Folk remedy # 1: To improve the nasal mucosa in the process of cold and influenza, should be boiled a handful of eucalyptus leaves in a quart of water for 10 minutes. Then, it must be inhaling the fumes.
  • Folk remedy # 2: Against chronic rheumatism, hot baths can make preparations with eucalyptus leaves.
  • Folk remedy # 3: When children cough with loud sounds apply hot fomentation around the neck of eucalyptus tea, changing them when they begin to cool.
  • It is very healthy to have around the house eucalyptus trees because their fumes prevent many diseases.



Precautions

We recommend not to use it internally as the eucalyptus used in this way is relatively nontoxic.
