This condition is very common and usually no symptoms unless the waste materials or food particles trapped in the diverticula filled with batteries which causes diverticulitis.
When a person suffers from diverticulitis presents the following symptoms:
- Pain in the lower left portion of the abdomen
- Frequent diarrhea followed by constipation.
- Fever
- Nausea
- Vomiting
Folk Remedies

- Remedy popular # 2 Add barley to soups of vegetables.
- Folk remedy # 3 Drink a glass of juice daily fresh cabbage.
- # 4 Develop folk remedy chamomile tea. To do this, boil a cup of water and after 10 minutes should remove from heat and add two tablespoons of chamomile. Take two to three cups a day.
Recommendations
Some recommendations to prevent and alleviate diverticulosis diverticulitis
- Drink plenty of fluids. It is important to drink six to eight glasses of water daily
- Getting enough fiber (DE30 to 35 grams a day) in their diet. It is important fiber in the diet because it absorbs moisture to produce stools soft and compact, which reduce the work of the muscles of the colon when removing debris, reduces thickening of the intestines and prevents constipation and training diverticula
- To include fiber, you can follow these tips:
- Choose whole grain bread (whole wheat) instead of white bread.
- Eat dessert fruit: berries, bananas, peaches.
- Eat the skins of apples, peaches and pears
- Add dried fruit like raisins and apricots, their food.
- Use more legumes and vegetables instead of meat in stews.
- Going to the bathroom when you feel the need to go. It is important not to suppress the need for a bowel movement, because if it does, can aggravate the situation.
- Exercise. Exercise benefits the muscles of the legs and hip muscles and also facilitating colonic evacuation.
- Do not use laxatives or enemas if constipation. Must be avoided, since they can further irritate the intestines and create a vicious circle where the organism will increasingly need them.
- Avoid caffeine in coffee, chocolate and some soda drinks as these drinks tend to irritate the intestines.
- No smoking
- Avoid eating highly processed foods or fatty foods, sugary and spicy.
- Avoid food that contains seeds and chew popcorn (popcorn), because the fragments can lodge in the diverticula and cause inflammation.
- Eating or pureed baby food made of fruits, vegetables and cereals cooked in an electric mixer to relieve discomfort and promote healing during recovery from an attack diverticular
If you suspect you have diverticulitis, you should see a specialist, because if left untreated can develop the following anomalies:
Ileus: In the colon of a person with diverticulitis are usually formed fibrous tissue that the accumulation, the move to completely seal the intestinal paralysis creating food that is extremely serious.
Peritonitis: Liquid containing the diverticula, which usually is composed of bacteria and fecal matter is poured into the intestinal cavity, producing a very severe infection
Bleeds: Many diverticula ruptures are followed by bleeding and intestinal system that has numerous branches of blood vessels.
Invasion of nearby organs: fistula may form that can serve as pathways between the body and any other close as the small intestine, bladder and, in rare cases, the vagina and uterus making these organs become infected also
