Basil reaches a foot high and is often branching. The flowers are small and white and sometimes have slightly purple hues.
It is easily grown in pots; requires clean water and sun, but not direct. This plant is highly prized for its pleasant odor and is used as a condiment in salads and other dishes.
Healing Properties:
Basil has many medicinal uses among them we have to dissolve or mature tumors, combat headaches, earaches, Flies and mosquitoes and even considered an aphrodisiac.
Basil is also indicated in cases of stress due to overwork them and to allay the spasmodic cough (pertussis type) and due to this property soothing, from antiquity already used in seizures.
Folk Remedies with basil:
* Folk remedy # 1: To dissolve or grow tumors and mouth sores, the leaves are ground and applied as a poultice on the affected part.
* Folk remedy # 2: To relieve headache, infusion is prepared which consists EN30 grams of basil leaves in a cup of water must boil for 7 minutes. It takes very hot.

Not recommended for internal use via basil oil to patients with gastritis, duodenal ulcers, gastro, irritable bowel syndrome, ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.
Recipes for healthy eating with basil
Basil mayonnaise.
For this recipe for healthy eating requires the following ingredients: 1 tablespoon parsley, a basil and two cloves of garlic.
It should produce a mayonnaise as usual and then you will throw the parsley, basil and garlic cloves. Serve as an aperitif, with olives and brown bread or as an accompaniment to fish.
The Genoese Pesto:
In this recipe requires: 4 cloves garlic, 1 bunch fresh basil, 2 tablespoons pine nuts, a pinch of salt, Parmesan cheese to taste and 1 cup extra virgin olive oil
In a mortar, crush to make garlic sauce, basil, pine nuts, salt and extra virgin olive oil. In the end, added grated parmesan cheese to taste.
