Atherosclerosis
- 2-19-2010
- Categorized in: Common Diseases

Atherosclerosis is the thickening of the arteries and loss of elasticity which implies that the veins from becoming hard.
This thickening is due to deposits of fat (cholesterol), calcium, collagen and other substances that will adhere to the inside of the arteries and, over time, can clog the blood flow.
Even a portion of this plaque can break off from artery walls to form a blood clot that can cause apoplexy (stroke) or cardiac infarction (heart attack).
Risk factors that increase the likelihood of developing atherosclerosis include:
- Hypertension
- The inability to metabolize sugar efficiently
- High consumption of processed carbohydrates or fats which leads to an increase in bad cholesterol
- Genetic origin
- Physical inactivity
- Smoking
- Excessive stress
- Nutritional deficiencies
- Obesity
Folk Remedies

- Remedy for Atherosclerosis # 6: Eating a lot of garbage (including their pipes) at least 2 or 3 times a week, as both the fruit and its seeds are naturally high in fiber reduces the absorption of fat in the arteries and thus the possibility of sticking to the arteries.
- Remedy for Atherosclerosis # 7: Take a teaspoon of wheat germ oil or wheat germ eat flake daily, since this product provides elasticity to the arteries due to its vitamin E.
- Remedy for Atherosclerosis # 8: Add 3 handfuls of barley peeled, chopped 2 slices of pineapple and chopped dried figs. Pour water to cover the mixture and marinate for 14 hours. This mix is taken at breakfast and served for two or three times. Enzymes of this mixture regenerates the body.
- Remedy for Atherosclerosis # 9: Take a healing juice made up 1 / 2 beet 1 small carrot, 1 stalk celery, 1 lemon, a bunch of parsley and a spinach. To do this, wash all the ingredients and then cut into pieces with the exception of lemon which you must extract the juice. Add it, along with the remaining ingredients in blender. Drink a glass daily.
Recommendations
- Exercise (at least 30 minutes of steady walking, swimming for 20 minutes or an equivalent aerobic three times a week) because it strengthens the heart, improves circulation and helps to consume the adrenal hormone that produces stress.
- Practice relaxation techniques to relieve anxiety, anger and other stress hormones that feelings can create small lesions in artery walls and make them more susceptible to arterial plaques.
- Eating foods with fiber in fruit, vegetables, legumes, cereals, since it is one of the best allies against atherosclerosis. This reduces fat absorption in the intestine and, thereby, to flood the blood.
- Avoid foods with excess fat such as sausage, fried foods, animal meat, fast food, plenty of sauces, milk and cheese fatty cured (should take fresh cheese or cottage cheese), refined or white sugar (substitute brown sugar), white flour or refined (substitute whole grains). Likewise, avoid excess salt intake.
